Injustice now online
Documentary available to watch online. After months of screenings in the UK, we have now made the film available online for free.
Injustice, a documentary film about prison, crime and us was started with no money or other resources. It is a documentary film about prison that weaves criminology, sociology and politics in a narrative about prison and the impact it has on people’s lives.
There’s no simple story here, but rather a complex interweaving of people’s stories. Tommy says he loved prison. For Gethin it seemed an inevitable destination for a young man who’d not received the best parenting.
Injustice isn’t a film about prison that forgets others. We find that prison officers and prison governors share the perspectives of prisoners – it doesn’t really work and causes more damage. Criminologists Joe Sim and David Scott press the point further. Dee O’Neill, who worked in prisons, and criminologist and former prison monitor, Faith Spear, agree that the problems of prison run deep.
Made in the tradition of Third Cinema, the documentary Injustice faces up to these difficult issues. We ask the questions that need to be asked, leaving the answers to the viewer. What do you think we need to do?
